Oh PEI...how we love thee!

A small group of MAINEiacs travelled to Prince Edward Island this past weekend to play a little flyball and have a little vacation time. We had a beautiful day for traveling on Thursday beginning at Julie's house and continuing with all of the usual stops and photo opportunities. It was exceptionally windy at the bridge but I think we got great shots of everyone there. After setting up camp at the KOA and grabbing dinner, we headed to campfire. Friday was a beautiful vacation day, with a nice walk and play time for all the dogs at Fort Amherst. It was really nice to see all the dogs playing and walking together in harmony :-) Even Jester, who wasn't in the lineups this weekend but came along for the trip, had a great time playing fetch with Lisa and walking with the pack!

We brought two teams to Fast 'n FURious's tournament this year. The Regular Team was "Shut the Front Door." This team ran very well together all weekend. Roxie, Eliot and Picnic were a really solid group in the 1-2-3 positions. There were some early passes, but this was tolerated well by each of the dogs. Picnic even had some personal best times! The fourth spot on this team rotated between Pivot and Tilt who both got a little action. And on Sunday, Levi got to come in for Roxie and Picnic to run some heats. The points for this team looked like this (total for weekend):

Roxie: 793
Eliot: 813
Picnic: 788
Pivot: 682
Tilt: 131
Levi: 45

Our second team was the open team "What the Fuzz." This team was led by Arrow in start who adapted very well to his multiple handlers over the weekend. Big thanks to all those who helped by driving him there, working on his "pit crew" and keeping those legs clean. Also thanks go to Sarah H for letting him come! Curly was super solid in the number two position and seemed to really like running for his dad in a couple of races! (I think we may have hooked John!) Rita seems to have developed a little OCD as she now believes she must take two strides between each and every jump. While this slowed her down significantly, she was still happy to play and the team was earning points. Leap got to come in a couple races for Rita and Kessie. And we even got Shilo to bring his ball back in one race on Sunday. These were the point totals for this team:

Arrow: 628
Curly: 628
Rita: 578
Kessie: 412
Shilo: 25
Leap: 241

After racing on Sunday, all the dogs enjoyed a nice romp together at Rice Point in the red sand and warm water at low tide. When it cooled down, the team went for a lovely dinner at the Preserve Company where there was plenty of Potato Pie all around. We had to make a stop at the Cow's Creamery afterwards for some ice cream and then it was on to campfire again!

Amy and John left for home Sunday after racing. Sarah L and Travis stayed until Monday morning. We all enjoyed a little "Boom Burger" (and Poutine!!) before hitting the road. Travis and I would really like to thank everyone for showing us around and making our first trip to PEI really wonderful! We even enjoyed the mussels (Well maybe Travis more than me) offered for lunch on Saturday! It sounds like the remaining three MAINEiacs (Rebeccah, Lisa and Deb) had a good time at the washer tournament with our Canadian friends on Monday afternoon before they departed Tuesday morning for the long drive home.

Almost forgot to mention the new titles! Kessie earned her FGDCH (30,000 points) title. Picnic earned her FDCH-Gold (2500 points). And Shilo is retired!! He would like to only fly, no ball, from now on please!!

Next up: More Canadian adventures when we head to Carleton County's Tournament at the end of August.
